What types of caps are there? There is a wide variety of caps. Different, special, unique caps... We can classify them in different ways, it all depends on the characteristic on which we base ourselves.
The first classification we can make is based on the parts of the cap:
Types of cap according to Structure:
Structured : The cap is slightly stiff in the front. At the time of manufacturing, they put a rigid reinforcement on the inside that allows it to maintain its original shape for longer.
Unstructured - The entire cap is soft. It molds to the shape of the head. This type of cap is more flexible.
Types of cap according to number of panels:
Five - panel : These caps have a rather peculiar design and have become popular for lifestyle collections , they are also very popular in the world of skateboarding .
Six-Panel - These are usually hip hop and baseball style caps. They have a more circular or oval shape, like the shape of the head.
Types of cap according to visor:
Flat caps : when the brim of the cap is flat. These visors can be curved to get the shape that we like the most.
Curved caps : a more classic touch. The visor has a predefined curve.
Types of caps according to fit:
Snapback caps : they are those that have an adjustable plastic clasp in the back, to be able to increase or decrease the diameter of the cap.
Strapback caps : These are the ones with an adjustable strap made of cloth or leather.
Closed caps : they are those that do not have any closure or adjustable strap at the back; They are closed. So we must know the size of our cap. There are also elastic closed caps that fit any head size (such as Exhal caps).
The second classification that we can make is based on the style of the cap:
Snapback: These are usually 6-panel, structured, flat-brim caps. We can find them with snapback closure or closed/one size fits all. They are the caps most associated with the hip hop style.
Baseball: These are usually 6-panel, structured caps with a curved visor. We can find them with snapback closure or closed/one size fits all. They are the caps most associated with sport.
Trucker: These are usually 5-panel, structured caps with a curved visor. The back is mesh with snapback closure, and they usually have a patch on the front. They get their name from the American truck drivers who used them.
Daddy: These are usually 5-panel, unstructured caps with a moldable brim. The most common back closure is the strapback. Widely used in lifestyle style.
If we have to classify Exhal caps , we can say that they are:
- With flat or curved visor.
- Closed, although they adapt to any head size.
- Unique style (snapback or baseball).
